Pumping Systems

We have been involved in a wide range of pumping installations, including civil, mechanical and electrical works on new and existing installations.

These projects have ranged from the largest irrigation stations to the pumps for a new housing development or the circulating pumps for a factory.

Pumps are a major investment to install and operate, and can cause major problems when they fail

Condition Survey
A lot of our work involves inspecting and reporting on pumping stations, allowing planned maintenance and advance planning for major renovation works.  The reports also consider the safety of the installation for operatives and the public.

Surge Analysis
When pumps start or stop, large pressure variations can be caused. These can cause the pipeline to burst or collapse. We can analyse these effects and design mitigation measures.

Hydraulic Assessment
It is impossible to plan what to do to a pumping station if you don't know what is happening. We provide a comprehensive testing service to assess the hydraulic performance of the pumping installations for clean and dirty water.

Hydraulic Design
Fenland Hydrotech Ltd. provide a comprehensive design service for pumping installations for clean and dirty water, irrigation flows and special purpose pumps.

Catchment Assessment
Our engineers are experienced in assessing the catchment for storm and combined pumping stations by means of flow monitoring and hydraulic modelling using HydroWorks® software.

Optimisation
Annual operation and energy costs often exceed the costs of the pumps themselves, and most of the pumps we have seen are operating inefficiently.  Our engineers will optimise the design of the installation to minimise these costs.
